landscape and hardscape design and installation in Mahwah NJ

Whether you are starting with a blank slate or are looking to completely refurbish your yard, we will create a lush, welcoming landscape. Curti’s Landscaping has been beautifying residential and commercial spaces for over 30 years. This project in Montvale is just one example of the work we have done in the Bergen County area.

The homeowners wanted to create a new backyard living space, so we transformed it! The project included regrading, drainage, irrigation, lighting, natural stone walls, sand-blasted marble pool deck and patio, fountain and plantings.

The Prep

The property’s refurbishing required quite a bit of prep work. We removed several large trees, voluminous amounts of plant material, and existing patio and pool coping to start with a clean slate and prepare for construction of a new pool, patio, walls, and border areas. Existing borders were relocated further into the grass to make room for a planting bed and walking path along the side of the pool. To prevent water from entering the home and to redirect runoff, we installed a channel drain, catch basin and drywell.

The Hardscape

The yard’s design included a significant amount of hardscape features.

Pool Coping

We installed marble coping along the perimeter of the pool.

Patios

The design included two separate patio areas. A random pattern of sand-blasted marble was laid for the patio surrounding the pool. The bluestone that had been removed from the original patio was laid opposite the existing Japanese Maple Tree and the flag stone wall surrounding the tree was replaced. Riverstone was added to denote the separation between the two patios.

Steps and Pathways

Welcoming walkways were created in the yard. A stepping stone path from the gate leads to stone slab steps up to the pool area patio.

Water Feature

A tranquil fountain surrounded by stone and grasses is a peaceful water feature adjacent to the pool patio.

The Softscape

We were able to transplant many of the homeowners’ existing plants. More plants were added to the design, including Rose of Sharon to screen the pool equipment and Korean Wintergreen Boxwood to frame the fencing. The beds were topped with dark mulch. We also seeded for a lush lawn.

Other Features

An irrigation system and outdoor lighting were installed throughout the entire property.
